In Surgery Now

Evangeline is in surgery now.
I was able to talk with the surgeon before she went back regarding the integrity of Evangeline’s foot and the results of last night’s MRI. The first metatarsal bone and toe are 75-85% gone. There is a 90% chance that he will have to amputate the toe and […] Read more…

Surgery Day

Evangeline is all ready for surgery and playing a Play Station. We are waiting to hear from the surgeon that he is ready for her. It could be any time today, but we are expecting it will be late morning.
We really appreciate all of your prayers and suggestions. Your faithful support has been such […] Read more…

We are on day 21 with Eliza, and I really can see improvement. She smiled so frequently today, I was just amazed at the change. She just seems to be so much more comfortable. Today she even tried the fish we had for dinner.
Tonight I was […] Read more…

The Little Girl Inside

I’m sitting outside Eliza’s bedroom folding clothes. She is inside with the door closed. I like open doors, but this is not a battle I will fight today.
I need to go downstairs to fix lunch, but the children are happy playing, and I don’t want to leave Eliza.
She is on the other side of […] Read more…

Transparency

As far back as I can remember, I have been a writer. I wrote through my adolescent years of loneliness and illness. I wrote through the years of college and graduate school as I dealt with re-entry into the world of health and wholeness with a compromised body, and then through the years of my […] Read more…
