Our Day at The Park

We had a relaxing weekend this Easter. Somehow, that’s what we needed. It was so nice to enjoy the beautiful weather and to just enjoy each other without the structure of a schedule.
We went to the park. Some of us read a little.

We played ball.

We swung high,

and leapt off.

We climbed rocks,

and slid down slides,

and were […] Read more…

The Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny.

Nine baskets…

all in a row…

but still missing one for our sweet daughter on the other side of the world.

We can’t wait to bring you home, Eliza BiLu.

We are thanking Jesus tonight for His death and life and praying that someone in China will share Jesus’ love this Easter with […] Read more…

Faith Like a Mustard Seed

I’ve been thinking a lot about faith lately.
You know, the kind of faith Jesus talked about when he said if we had faith the size of a mustard seed, we could say to the mountain, “Move,” and it would move.
I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you […] Read more…

Another Translation

Here’s another translation of Bilu’s letter. This one was done by a sweet Chinese woman named Ping that I met through a Facebook friend. Her translations are very good, and you can see how much variety there is when doing a translation. This one makes a bit more sense to me.
Dear Mom and Dad,

Another Letter

It had been a long day.
The children had not been feeling well. Our teens weren’t in very good moods.

What I’ve Been Doing Lately

As many of you already know, our home study went really well. Our social worker was so nice and really seemed to enjoy his visit with us. Just before he arrived, we got the play dough out for all the little ones. That was a great idea because the children were all little angels and […] Read more…

Home Study

Hi Everyone!
Our Social worker is coming today for our home study visit.
We’ve been running around here putting everything in its place so we at least look like we can manage all these children!
Everything looks great. I’ve reminded the children that hanging from the rafters and jumping on the furniture is probably not a […] Read more…

My Valentine

I waited a long time for this man.
I wanted him for as long as I can remember, this man with whom I would share my life. I knew he was out there, somewhere, perhaps even looking for me too.
And I knew God knew him.
I dreamed of him when I closed my eyes at […] Read more…

Our Precious Surprise

I didn’t expect it.
I didn’t even know that Bi Lu knew we were working to bring her home.
Never the less, there it was, in my email, precious photos of a card and a letter written by our daughter’s own hand!

It took my breath away to see her beautiful, Chinese characters written to a Mom and […] Read more…

A Letter!

Oh be still my heart!
Today we received a letter from our precious new daughter. It is completely in Chinese, and is being translated right now!
Perhaps tomorrow, I can share parts of her letter.
