As I have shared before, we know very little about Evangeline’s past.

I have a few pictures of her life as it was right before she came to us, and a couple very poor pictures from around the time of her finding add in 2010.

It appears that a file was prepared for Evangeline around the time she transferred into Baoji CWI in 2010, and that is when her finding ad must have been printed.

One record indicates Evangeline was abandoned in 2002, and another document records 2008 as her date of abandonment.

I really don’t know. Evangeline says she wasn’t a baby and says she was big.

I’ve been writing to organizations trying to find someone who knew her while she was in Jiangzhang CWI. This is the smaller, older orphanage she lived in prior to going to Baoji in 2010. It is also the place that holds such horrible memories for her.

Yesterday, I received these two photos from China Care.

The little girl in the picture is about seven, has trouble seeing, and still does not have a family.

This next photo just takes my breath away.

Somehow knowing her now makes me feel like I knew her then.

Apparently, she was seen by China Care in Beijing in March of 2011. She was taken to Beijing for medical care.

She was twelve years old, and these photos were in her record.

And I’m so very thankful for this precious glimpse of the child that she was.

Blessings!

  1. priceless! And difficult!

Have you tried to write to the orphanages? Maybe send them an update (even though it wasn’t that good for her or they haven’t been good to her). They might just send you a photo of an earlier age?

    Take care,
    warm regards, Claudia

    • No, I have not written to the orphanages, but that is a really good idea. Thank you, Claudia, I will do that.

  2. So her family kept her for several years Diane? I guess I just assumed she was a baby. Boy she was a doll (and still is) in those pictures!

I hope the little girl in that pictures finds a family soon.

    • Hi Terri,
I really don’t know, but I think she was with her family until she was almost four years old. Evangeline did tell me that she was not a baby at the orphanage. She was big when she came. Is four big? I don’t know. If the second date, 2008, is correct, then she was 10 years old. I really don’t think she was that old. She would remember something if that was the case.
