I want to thank all of you so much for all of your prayers, messages, emails, and cards for Evangeline and our family.

You have blessed us.

I know so many of you are eagerly looking for an update, and I have so wanted to write and express all that is going on with everyone. You have cheered us on and lifted us in prayer throughout this entire journey with our girls.

Evangeline is improving everyday at the rehab at CHOP. She has made great strides and enjoys every card, letter, sticker set, and bouquet you have sent. She is still primarily using the wheelchair, but is moving quickly toward the crutches stage. I spoke with her physical therapist, and no one knows yet if she will ever regain everything she has lost, but we will continue to pray for a miracle.

Yesterday, we had a long awaited appointment with Developmental Pediatrics for Eliza. Eliza meets all of the criteria for Autism. The doctor is convinced that she is autistic, but will wait until the fall for a formal diagnosis because she feels the diagnosis will bear more credibility once she has been home a year.

Not all stages in life are easy, and this is proving to be a difficult one for our family.

We have so many things to figure out with the girls, and our biological kids are growing tired of the struggles. I just need to take a little break from this blog.

I just don’t have the words right now.

I’m trusting that I will be feeling more like myself again soon.

Blessings All!

10 Comments on A Break

  1. We continue to pray for your girls, you and your entire family as you face these hurdles. Praying the Lord renews your strength and gives you much endurance. I read an amazing quote this week in regards to adoption. “I want to stand before God sweaty, tired, and broke because I invested my life and resources in the kingdom of God and for the benefit of others.” I’m sure you are feeling all of the above, and I am thankful that you are such an example of this quote! Hugs and lots of encouragement sent your way.

  2. Praying for everyone Diane. I wish we lived closer so I could give all all a big hug. Love you guys. If you ever need to talk… I’m one phone call away.

  3. Even though Eliza’s evaluation might not have been a surprise, I’m sure it was still hard to hear. You are doing such a beautiful work but it is very hard nevertheless. Always praying for her, Evangeline, you and your whole family….

My rabbi gave a beautiful sermon last night about how faith is like a torch….a torch that is actually more visible when the way is foggy and dark. Your faith shines so beautifully as you walk through this dark time. There is a saying in the Talmud: “One person’s candle can light the way for many.” Please know that your candle, or torch, is shining brightly for many others, even though the road is so hard for you at present.

  4. I can certainly understand why you need a break. Be assured of my prayers as you restore yourself. God bless.

  5. I am sure that the focus on you and your family will do you well, Diane! Just as much as I am sure that all the effort and love that you put in to Eliza, Evangeline and your other kids will pay off! I’ll be thinking of you and look forward to your update when you’re ready…
    warm regards from sunny Netherlands,
    Claudia
