The Beginning

A NOTE TO THE READER: This is one post in a series of posts that will share the story of how I came to know and grew to love my daughters who were adopted at fourteen years old, mere days before they aged out of the adoption system. It does not reflect my feelings now. […] Read more…

Happy Messy Mother’s Day

I always greet Mother’s Day with mixed emotions.

I imagine lovely Mother’s Day pictures of years past with my mother, aunt and grandmother smiling proudly and all of us daughters smiling sweetly in our neatly pressed dresses and shiny white shoes, the sun shining brightly into our tightly squinting eyes, and the lilac bushes […] Read more…

Just As We Are

This morning a familiar worship chorus kept repeating itself in my head.

Come, now is the time to worship
Come, now is the time to give your heart
Come, just as you are to worship
Come, just as you are before your God
Come

And it really spoke to me.

A sweet friend tagged me in a post this morning.
There is a precious family in China adopting two teenage daughters even as I write this who is struggling. She asked if I could share any words of encouragement for this dear family.
I remember those days in China so vividly. […] Read more…

Feeling Normal Again

Evangeline came home from the hospital a week and a half ago, and I finally am beginning to feel like myself again.

She made the adjustment amazingly well.

We are all so thankful to have her home again.

Sophia is especially happy to have her sister back.

Their pretty pink room is alive […] Read more…

Breathing Again

So much for my break.
I guess I really don’t need one after all.
On Monday, my sweet friend Stephanie showed up with bagels and cream cheese and dinner for my enormous family, just like she has consistently done so many times before.
But she didn’t only bring food for all of us, […] Read more…
